The outer part of this purse is made of silk, whereas the inner part is made of ramie. Since hanbok did not have pockets, purses such as this one were both ornamental and functional. This purse is secured with decorative yellowish gold knotted ties. Their shape looks like a dragonfly, so it is called chamjari maedeup. The ties were used to attach the purse to the wearer's belt or dress.
